The Trump Administration has launched a continuous attack on our country’s environmental laws and protections, including repealing methane leak rules, weakening the Clean Air Act, cuts to the EPA, and a destructive infrastructure plan. Despite these challenges, Pennsylvanians know we have the technology at our fingertips to turn our country towards a brighter and more sustainable future.
Our mission at PennEnvironment is to highlight the urgent work we can continue to do to protect our Earth. As such, we are hosting a “Climate Solutions Expo” on March 26th, co-sponsored by Haverford College.
The goal of this event is to engage new members of our community, hear about concrete cases of how we can take action to confront climate change, and participate in tangible tactics that leverage science and research to promote thoughtful public policy to make a difference. As PennEnvironment is an advocacy organization, we use many of these tactics every day – such as writing Letters to the Editor, calling elected officials, petitioning campaigns, recording videos, lobbying, and more. As part of the growing RF100 Montgomery County initiative, we will also have breakout groups for township members to come together, meet one another, and discuss the local pursuit of 100% renewable energy.
Climate change is already threatening Pennsylvania, causing worsening flooding, higher rates of insect-borne disease, and increasing heat-induced mortality. Yet we also have the people and the potential to stand up for our health, our pocketbooks, and our planet. We hope you’ll join us, and be a part of the solution!
