About Steve McCarter

Steve McCarter and his wife Deborah have lived in Cheltenham Township for 26 years. They resided in Elkins Park and Jenkintown before moving to Glenside. Steve is an avid political junkie and golfer with a passion for reading and public service.

Steve’s work experiences range from machine operator to high school teacher to army reserve captain to university professor. His experience provides a varied background for representing our diverse community.

Steve McCarter On The Issues

As a labor leader, Steve served a variety of groups which included bus drivers, cafeteria workers, secretaries and teachers. He listened to opposing views and devised solutions to complex issues and bridged the gap between employees and employers to find a resolution.

Working on community committees and local politics, he became knowledgeable of local concerns and needs.  Steve has worked closely with elected officials from the federal, state and local levels to bring about positive change in our communities. During Steve’s first few years in office as a State Representative, he has used his past experiences to become an active member of the Democratic Caucus and Policy Committee.
He is an outspoken leader in the areas of public education, the environment, labor, civil rights, and issues related to our growing senior population. Steve also worked to advance awareness of our need to address our aging transportation, sewer, and school infrastructure needs.
